How the Thermal Score works

Thermal Score combines heat load and cold load on one scale. Positive values indicate heat stress, negative values indicate cold stress, and values near zero represent the best thermal conditions.

Thermal Score Weather load + intensity adjustment
Show calculation Cold: standard wind chill → TS · Warm: temperature + moisture + sun − wind + intensity

Cold calibration: effective −15 °C = TS 0 · effective −35 °C = TS −10. Intensity adjustment applies only when TS is above zero.

Air temperatures above 13 °C are never rated as suitable for normal training. TrailSense is decision support, not a veterinary safety guarantee.
